A Little Less Conversation
Kate has been saying, "Look, Elvis!" just as often as she says "Look, a monkey!" when trying to distract us. She picked it up from Sara and me, and tonight while brushing teeth she said, "Do you know who Elvis is?"
This necessitated a trip to YouTube. First, classic Elvis ("Hound Dog" on national TV), then slick popular Elvis ("Jailhouse Rock"), and then chubby, sad old Elvis ("My Way"). Kate asked, "Why is he old?" She thought his jumpsuit was pretty and liked the way his shoes moved when he danced.
We ended on JXL's cut of "A Little Less Conversation", which continues to rock pretty hard.
Kate liked the ballerina the best.
I have to admit having a little tear---Kate's first Elvis! Elvis is so quintessentially American, so charismatic even in blurry TV on YouTube.
I hope you listen to this and groove a little. Every day needs more Elvis.
